Dreaming of a Relaxed Calm Wedding Morning
I have not yet been the one at the alter saying "I Do", But I’ve have stood up there with many of my best girlfriends. Each wedding and Bride have their own personality and their own priorities for the morning of their wedding and getting ready.
I’ve been in parties that we have gone out to get hair and make up done, then home to get dressed then gone to the venue through to waking up at the venue and having mobile services come to us, then walking to the wedding ceremony.
There is no rule book for weddings. That is the absolute best part. It can be totally you, be about what you like and focus on you as much or as little as you want.
One thing I have noticed is that each Bride wants their wedding morning to run smoothly. All my friends have wanted the morning to be relaxed and to enjoy the moment and excitement with her best friends. I have created a list of suggestions below that I’ve noticed to have helped on the morning day to create a calm, relaxed and loving environment, making it special for everyone.
o Sleep and Rest
Getting to bed early the night before and making sure you have a great sleep and enough rest. It may take you longer to fall asleep because of all your excitement so make sure you get to bed early enough. As fun and exciting your Wedding day will be, ensuring you are rested is important to ensure you do not fizzle out towards the day/night.
o Lay out your dress, shoes, and accessories
The night before your wedding lay out your dress, veil, shoes, accessories. Doing this is one less thing to do on the morning of, and you can sleep easier knowing that you have everything you need.
o Treat yourself
Its YOUR wedding day. Make sure you treat and spoil yourself. This day is about you and your partner so ensure you take some time for you. Consider a bath with essential oils, or a face mask with calming music, yoga. Enjoy the here and now and take a moment to enjoy that, even if it just slipping away and lighting a candle and rubbing moisturiser over your whole body. Be present this is your special day and you want to make sure your relaxed calm and happy.
o Do not do anymore planning or arranging
Let us face it if it has not been sorted or planned before now is it super necessary. Ask yourself “will having this or doing this change outcome or effect the day”. Assign someone (Maid of Honour, Bridesmaid) to take care of all of this. These small details they can sort out. Today is your day and for you to enjoy.
o Hydrate and eat
Ensure you drink plenty of water while your getting ready. Water hydrates and plumps your skin and makes it look brighter, vibrant, and more youthful. However, lack of water can cause skin to lose its plumpness and elasticity—leading to dryness, fine lines, and wrinkles.
Make sure you eat. This is often passed over but having a clean breakfast will get you through the day and give you energy. Eating will also make you feel full and calm on the inside and will settle some nerves.
o Have fun
Make sure you have a robe or something else special to wear while your getting ready. This will make the morning more fun and sentimental (and easier to take off after your hair and make up). If you cannot fit the whole bridal party just have one for yourself. Celebrate, have a glass of bubbles and toast with your girls. Have a playlist playing in the background, either one you have created or one you like from Spotify. Have essential oils handy or diffusing in the room. Lavender is a wonderful for its calming properties.
There is no right way or wrong way to get ready or get married. Your marring your partner, your person because you love them for who they are and the love you for you are. Enjoy every moment. Love, smiles, and laughter are contagious and are the best medicine.
Get ready in confidence, be beautiful and proud of who you are, now it’s time for you to go and get ready.
